The Arlington Bank recently concluded their 2010 Heritage Art Scholarship Contest by awarding the grand prize to a recent Upper Arlington High School graduate.

The contest challenged local high school student artists to create a piece of art embodying the tradition, heritage, civic pride and/or history of Grandview, Upper Arlington and the Tri-Village area. Eligible students were entered to win the first place prize of $250 or the second place prize of $100. The Arlington Bank offered this scholarship as a way to give back to the communities of Grandview and Upper Arlington that have supported them since their inception in 1999.

Upper Arlington 12^th grader, Margaret Wunderlich claimed the first place award for her submission “Community”, a color photo collage of the exterior of Reed Rd. branch of The Arlington Bank. Second Place winner Andy Smigelski, an 11^th grader from Grandview Heights High School, won the second place award with his submission “Patriotic Parade,” a color photograph of the annual Grandview Heights Memorial Day Parade. Each piece displayed a clear representation of the contest theme as well as noticeable artistic talent.

During the next several months all of the artwork submitted will be displayed at The Arlington Bank branches. Beginning August 1, the art will be displayed in the Tremont branch window for the entire month then rotate out to the Reed road location in September and the Grandview location in October. The winning art may also be displayed in upcoming Arlington Bank promotions.

Entries will be accepted for The Arlington Bank 2011 Heritage Art Scholarship beginning immediately.  All students, parents, or teachers are encouraged to let that young artist in their lives know about this event and to encourage them to create a piece for next year’s scholarship competition.
